In a major step toward transforming Uganda’s economy, Uganda Airlines Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Jenifer Bamuturaki, hosted Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) CEO, Ms. Juliana Kagwa, for a high-level strategic meeting focused on boosting the country’s tourism sector. The discussion centered around a bold “tenfold growth strategy” designed to accelerate Uganda’s economic transformation into a $500 billion powerhouse.

The two leaders emphasized that tourism remains one of Uganda’s greatest economic opportunities. With the country’s rich natural beauty, diverse wildlife, and vibrant culture, both CEOs agreed that stronger collaboration between the national airline and the tourism board could unlock massive potential. Their meeting marks a key milestone in aligning aviation and tourism to drive national development.

Ms. Bamuturaki highlighted that Uganda Airlines plays a vital role in connecting Uganda to the world and attracting more international visitors. She explained that strategic partnerships like this one are essential to increasing global awareness of Uganda as a must-visit destination. “Every passenger we fly is a potential ambassador for our country,” she said, noting that tourism and aviation must work hand-in-hand for sustainable growth.

Ms. Kagwa, on her part, stressed that Uganda Tourism Board is committed to marketing the Pearl of Africa more aggressively across global markets. She said that initiatives like the tenfold growth strategy aim to create jobs, empower communities, and increase Uganda’s foreign earnings. “Our collaboration with Uganda Airlines will ensure that tourism becomes a key driver of economic transformation,” she added.

The partnership seeks to strengthen destination branding, enhance customer experiences, and promote Uganda’s unique attractions—from the majestic gorillas of Bwindi and the scenic beauty of Lake Victoria to the cultural heritage of the Buganda Kingdom and beyond.

As Uganda positions itself for the 2026–2030 development agenda, tourism is expected to play a central role in achieving inclusive and sustainable growth. The meeting between Ms. Bamuturaki and Ms. Kagwa demonstrates a shared commitment to making Uganda one of Africa’s leading tourism and investment destinations.
