Security Agencies have arrested a 20-year-old man, Musana Ivan, after a video circulated on social media showing him wearing a military jacket and making statements that could incite violence. The video, which was uploaded on TikTok, quickly drew public attention and concern.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Musana is not a member of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces. Authorities established that he falsely presented himself as a UPDF officer while recording the video, an act that amounts to impersonation and misuse of military identity.
Following intelligence-led operations, the suspect was traced and arrested in Bukedea District. He is currently being held at Kawempe Police Station as investigations continue, and the case file will be sent to the Office of the Resident State Attorney for legal guidance.
As Uganda prepares for the General Elections scheduled for 15th January 2026, Police have reminded the public to use social media responsibly. They warned that posting content involving threats, hate speech, or impersonation of security personnel is a serious offence punishable under the law.
