Police in Kyankwanzi District are investigating a shocking murder of a couple that happened in the early hours of 14th February 2026 in Kizungu Cell, Ntunda Town Council. The tragic incident has left residents in deep sorrow and fear, especially because it occurred on Valentine’s Day, a day usually known for love and celebration.
According to the District Police Commander (DPC), a phone call was received early in the morning from a resident identified as Mulawa Ashiraf. He reported that his neighbors had been attacked and killed during the night. Police quickly responded to the call and dispatched a team, including a Scene of Crime Officer, to examine the area and begin investigations.
Reports indicate that at around 2:30 a.m., unknown attackers raided the home of Sentongo Awali, a 42-year-old peasant and resident of Kizungu Cell in Ntunda Subcounty. The attackers are believed to have been armed with a sharp object, possibly a panga. They are suspected to have used it to cut and stab their victims in a brutal attack.
Sentongo Awali was reportedly cut several times on the head and suffered a deep stab wound in the neck, which killed him instantly. After attacking him, the assailants turned on his wife, Ayebare Doreen. She was stabbed in the ribs during the violent incident. Despite her serious injuries, she tried to run to her relatives who live about 80 meters away from their home. Sadly, she collapsed before reaching them and died from the deep stab wounds she had sustained.
The couple leaves behind two young children who were in the house at the time of the attack. The eldest child is only four years old. Miraculously, the children survived the horrific incident, although they are now left without their parents.
The attackers fled the scene immediately after the crime and remain unidentified. The motive behind the attack has not yet been established. Police have assured the public that investigations are ongoing and that every effort is being made to bring the culprits to justice.
Residents of Ntunda Town Council are still in shock and mourning the loss of their neighbors. Police have appealed to the community to remain calm and to cooperate fully with security officers during the investigations. They have also encouraged anyone with information that could help in solving the case to come forward, promising that all shared information will be treated with the highest level of confidentiality.
As investigations continue, the community of Ntunda stands united in grief, hoping that justice will soon be served for the innocent lives that were lost in such a cruel and heartless act.
