Your Voice Counts!! Elections for Special Interest Groups Kick Off Nationwide

Must read

The Electoral Commission has officially launched the programme for the Special Interest Groups (SIGs) Committees’ elections ahead of the 2025/2026 General Elections. These important elections will be held from the Parish level all the way up to the National level. They are specially designed to give a voice to Older Persons, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), and the Youth groups that play a big role in shaping the future of our country.

This roadmap is part of the Commission’s wider plan to ensure inclusive participation in national leadership. It gives every group a fair chance to be represented in decision-making spaces, starting from the smallest unit of governance the village or parish and going all the way to the national committees. The Electoral Commission is calling upon all citizens, civil society groups, and leaders at all levels to support and engage in this process.

Stakeholders are encouraged to take note of the set timelines and ensure that all activities are done according to the guidelines provided. Whether you are a voter, a leader, or a potential candidate, your involvement is key to making these elections successful. It’s not just about voting it’s about building a stronger, more inclusive Uganda.

For those who want to contest for positions, nomination forms are now available and can be downloaded from the Electoral Commission’s official website at; https://www.ec.or.ug/nomination-forms. All eligible members of the SIGs are urged to pick and fill these forms in time.

This is your opportunity to be part of real change. Whether you’re a young leader full of energy, a wise elder with experience, or someone living with a disability who wants their community to be more inclusive now is the time to step forward. Let’s all come together to make sure the voices of all Ugandans are heard loud and clear in the next elections.
