Three National Unity Platform (NUP) civilian bodyguards attached to party President Robert Kyagulanyi, aka Bobi Wine, case has been adjourned to April 16th, 2025.
The trio Achileo Kivumbi, Gaddafi Mugumya and Grace Smart Wakabi have appeared at the Masaka High Court this morning for their bail session.
They are asking for a speedy trial claiming that the charges are trumped up.
They are facing charges of robbery and malicious property damage.
The legal team, led by Counsel Samuel Muyizzi said the state has failed to expedite the investigation process as they always ask for more time from court adding that it is deliberate that the accused persons remain in prison for a long time.
State Prosecution told court that the accused trio allegedly robbed one Margret Kayondo, a journalist attached to Radio Simba, stealing her green sweater and a Camon12 mobile phone valued at Shs730,000 on May 18, 2024. The prosecution further alleges that they used sharp knives and sticks during the attack.
