Mubende Kidnapping Foiled! Baby Rescued After Four Arrests

Must read

Four people have been arrested for child stealing, and a baby has been rescued alive in Mubende District, Uganda. The disturbing event unfolded on the evening of April 25, 2026, when a mother, Ainembabazi Janet, left her 3-week-old son, Sentume Dillan, at home to buy some items from the trading center. When she returned, her baby was gone. Panic set in as she searched the house and immediately informed her neighbors. They joined in the frantic search, but there was no sign of the baby.

Feeling desperate, Ainembabazi contacted the police, and a report was filed at Lubimbiri Police Station. During the investigation, one of the neighbors claimed to have seen a man named Sebuliba Yahaya near the house when the baby went missing. This tip led to the arrest of Sebuliba, who confessed to stealing the baby. However, the shocking truth unraveled when Sebuliba revealed that he had been hired by a woman named Nakacwa Jovia, who lived in the Namagogo cell of Mubende Municipality.

Nakacwa Jovia’s husband, Ndayizeye Claude, was also arrested. He told the police that his wife had deceived him by claiming to be pregnant and that she had even been attending antenatal visits. He had no idea that she had stolen a baby boy. In a well-coordinated police operation early the following morning, Nakacwa Jovia was finally located. Police found her hiding at the home of Kababiito Sharon in Kiruma Trading Center. She was arrested, and the stolen baby was recovered in good health.

Kababiito Sharon, the woman who had been harboring Nakacwa, was also arrested for her involvement in the crime. The police have confirmed that the baby has been safely reunited with his mother, who was overjoyed to have her son back.

This heart-wrenching case serves as a reminder of the need for vigilance, especially when it comes to ensuring the safety of children. The police are still processing the case, and soon charges will be officially filed against the suspects. Authorities are also calling on men to accompany their wives for antenatal visits, which could help prevent such deceitful acts in the future.

The story of Sentume Dillan’s kidnapping and miraculous rescue has shocked the Mubende community, but it also shows the power of teamwork and determination. Thanks to the cooperation of the neighbors, the quick action of the police, and the intelligence-led operation, the baby was safely returned to his family, and those responsible for this cruel crime are now facing justice.
