The meeting, held at the Special Forces Command headquarters, brought together the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) top leadership in a demonstration of the military’s commitment to maintaining peace, security, and stability.

The gathering was attended by key military leaders, including the Deputy Chief of Defence Forces, Service Chiefs, the Chief of Joint Staff, Division Commanders, Chiefs of Staff, Commanders of independent units, and members of the Joint Staff Committee. A major focus of the meeting was the assessment of UPDF troops deployed in regional peace and security missions. The committee reviewed the operational progress of Ugandan forces serving in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Somalia, South Sudan, and Equatorial Guinea. These deployments continue to play a significant role in promoting regional stability, combating security threats, and supporting efforts to maintain peace in neighboring countries.

General Muhoozi emphasized the importance of continuous evaluation and strategic planning to ensure that Uganda remains prepared to respond effectively to both national and regional security challenges. The discussions highlighted the need for strong leadership, operational readiness, and close cooperation among military formations to achieve mission objectives.

The Joint Staff Committee meeting also reaffirmed Uganda’s commitment to regional peace and security. Through regular engagements such as this, military leaders are able to align defence strategies, monitor mission performance, and strengthen the effectiveness of the UPDF in protecting national interests while contributing to stability across the region.

As security dynamics continue to evolve, the UPDF remains focused on enhancing its capabilities and maintaining a proactive approach to defence and peace support operations.
