Must read

Kampala Metropolitan Police has made a major breakthrough in the investigation of a violent robbery case in which more than UGX 45 million was stolen from officials of Riverside Forex Bureau. The robbery, which happened after a money exchange transaction along Kampala Road, has led to the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of key exhibits believed to have been used in the crime.

According to police reports, the incident took place on 6th May 2026 when the manager of the forex bureau and his colleague left Bunga Trading Centre on a motorcycle carrying USD 13,000. They were on their way to exchange the money into Uganda shillings. After successfully completing the exchange along Kampala Road, they were ambushed by motorcycle-riding attackers at Nsambya, who robbed them of UGX 45,184,600 before fleeing the scene.

Investigations carried out by the authorities led to important discoveries, including a motorcycle bearing registration number UMA 655GK. Police say the number plate had been forged, likely to hide the identity of the vehicle used in the robbery. This discovery helped investigators track leads that eventually pointed to the suspects involved.

Today, 12th June 2026, police arrested two individuals linked to the case: Kamoga Yudah, also known as “Sparta,” and Kayabula Arnold, a boda boda rider. Another motorcycle, registration number UMA 602KK, which is believed to be connected to the robbery, was also recovered during the operation. The arrests mark a significant step forward in solving the case.

The suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue. Police are still working to identify and arrest other individuals who may have participated in planning or executing the robbery. Authorities have assured the public that all those involved will be brought to justice.

The Kampala Metropolitan Police, under the leadership of its spokesperson ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, reaffirmed its commitment to fighting crime and ensuring safety in the city, especially targeting organized robberies involving boda boda riders.
