Police in Kiboga District have arrested a casual labourer accused of killing his employer following a disagreement over payment in Kyomya Subcounty.
The suspect, identified as Fabulisi, a Burundian national, allegedly attacked 22-year-old Golooba Akiram on 6 August 2026 in a garden where the deceased was preparing logs for charcoal burning together with his wife, Naggawa Gloria.
According to police, the suspect confronted Golooba demanding payment and allegedly threatened him, saying that he would cut him if he was not given his money. He reportedly pulled out a panga and attacked the victim, cutting him on the neck.
Police said Golooba collapsed and died at the scene after sustaining severe injuries and losing a lot of blood.
After the attack, the suspect allegedly grabbed the deceased’s wife and dragged her to the home of Kyomya B LC1 Chairperson, Muwonge Sulaiman, while still demanding payment.
The incident was reported to Kyomya Subcounty Police Station before the matter was forwarded to Bukomero Police Station, where detectives launched investigations into the suspected murder.
Police officers who visited the scene found the deceased lying on his stomach in a pool of blood, approximately 15 metres away from the primary scene of the attack. A panga with suspected blood stains was also recovered as part of the investigation.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Fabulisi had been working as a casual labourer for the deceased and had lived in the village for about one year.
The suspect was arrested and is currently detained at Bukomero Police Station as investigations continue under case reference Bukomero CRB 142/2026.
Wamala Region Police spokesperson SSP L. Kigozi urged members of the public to be cautious when hiring casual workers whose backgrounds are not well known within their communities.
He also encouraged employers and workers to resolve disagreements peacefully, communicate clearly on payment matters, and seek lawful solutions to disputes instead of resorting to violence.
