Two employees of Next Media have died in a tragic road accident along Entebbe Road, while another person was left injured following a head-on collision in the early hours of Friday, 7 August 2026.
Police identified the deceased as Badru Kasirye and Isaac Ndamagye, both employees of Next Media. The crash also left Brian Makona injured and he was rushed to hospital for medical treatment.
According to police, the accident happened at around 2:00 a.m. at Namulanda, near Stabex along Entebbe Road. The crash involved two vehicles — a Toyota Allex registration number UA 779DE and a Toyota Hilux registration number UAS 976W.
Preliminary investigations by police indicate that the driver of the Toyota Hilux, which was travelling from Entebbe towards Kampala, allegedly lost control of the vehicle as it approached the Stabex area. The vehicle reportedly crossed into the opposite lane, where it collided head-on with the oncoming Toyota Allex.
The impact of the collision was severe, resulting in the death of Badru Kasirye and Isaac Ndamagye at the scene. Brian Makona survived the crash but sustained injuries and was taken to hospital for further medical attention.
Police said investigations into the exact cause and circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing, adding that more information will be released after the inquiries are completed.
Traffic Police spokesperson SP Michael Kananura expressed condolences to the families, friends and colleagues of the deceased, while wishing the injured victim a quick recovery.
The deaths of the two Next Media employees have caused sadness among their colleagues and the wider media fraternity, with many mourning the loss of two professionals whose lives were cut short in the unfortunate accident.
