The Electoral Commission of Uganda has clarified that no fresh registration of voters or application for change of polling station is allowed during this ongoing national voters register display exercise.
This followed different complaints that some Ugandans that missed the registration of voters exercise have been denied a chance to register.
“There are others who visit the poling stations asking the register display officers to allow them change to other poling stations”.Says EC Spokesperson Julius Muchunguzi.
This is a very important exercise, which could determine whether you vote on polling day or not; Fresh application for registration as a voter or application for transfer to another voting location shall not be accepted. He added.
The Display of the National Voters Register exercise started on April 25,2025 and allows a voter to check whether the voter’s name is spelt correctly,registered at the correct parish and confirms his or her photo.
The voter is allowed also to report anyone deceased or under 18 years of age.
Every Ugandan is urged to visit his or her designated display centre in person before 15 May 2025.
