A quiet village in Mukono District has been shaken by the horrifying murder of a six-year-old girl, Naddumba Mariam. Police in Naggalama have confirmed the arrest of four people believed to be behind this disturbing act, including the child’s own grandmother.
Mariam was reported missing on May 14th, 2025, by her grandmother, Nyaburu Jane. The next day, the little girl’s lifeless body was found in a maize garden near her home in Kisoga Village, Bukasa Parish, Kimenyedde Sub-county. What made the discovery even more shocking was the condition of the body—her genital parts had been cut off, leading investigators to suspect a ritual killing.
The local community was quick to respond. People from the area gave vital information to police, which helped in the fast arrest of the suspects. Those arrested include:
1.Senoga Moses, a male adult
2.Ntege Jackson, a male adult
3.Zalwango Florence, a female adult
- Nyaburu Jane, the grandmother of the victim
All suspects are from the same village and are believed to have had close relationships with the victim. Police revealed that some of them lived together and could have worked together to commit this terrible crime.
ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Public Relations Officer for the Kampala Metropolitan Police, thanked the local people of Kisoga for their bravery and cooperation. He said their quick action helped preserve important evidence that may be useful in court.
“This was a heartbreaking case, and we are doing everything possible to find the truth and give justice to little Mariam,” ASP Owoyesigyire said.
The body of the young girl was taken to Kayunga Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination to help in the investigation.
The suspects remain in police custody and will face serious charges once investigations are complete. Police have promised to keep the public updated as they uncover more details about what happened.
The death of Naddumba Mariam has left the entire community heartbroken, and many are still in disbelief that people from the same village, and even from the same family, could be involved in such a terrible crime.
Authorities are calling for calm and encouraging anyone with more information to come forward.
As investigations continue, the people of Mukono are left mourning the loss of an innocent child and praying for justice.
