EXCLUSIVE!! Germany Ambassador Under Fire Over Alleged Links to Rebel Activities in Uganda

Must read

Security forces in Uganda have stepped up operations to monitor and neutralize growing threats from emerging rebel groups in the country. Over the past few months, intelligence agencies and security forces have arrested several individuals linked to serious crimes, including planning bomb attacks in crowded public areas, organizing armed rebellion, and destroying national electricity infrastructure.

According to officials, the most affected regions by the destruction of power lines include districts in central Uganda such as Wakiso, Mukono, Luweero, Nakaseke, Kiboga, and Nakasongola. Others include Kayunga, Mityana, Mubende, Mpigi, and the greater Masaka area. The vandalism has raised fears of a larger coordinated plan to cause economic chaos and sabotage public services.

Some of the arrested suspects were initially believed to be political activists, particularly those affiliated with the opposition National Unity Platform (NUP). However, after investigations, many were found to have ties to rebel activities and have since been charged and remanded in custody awaiting trial.

The Inter-Agency Security Committee, which is led by the Chief of Defence Forces of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), is working hand-in-hand with the Uganda Police, the Prisons Services, and other intelligence bodies. Together, they are tracking down rebel cells believed to be operating mainly in the ghetto areas around Kampala. Authorities report that these groups are actively recruiting unemployed and vulnerable youths to join their cause.

A major concern raised by the security committee is that these rebel activities appear to be aimed at disrupting the country’s upcoming general elections. In response, the committee has vowed to take strong action against those behind these illegal activities including ringleaders, organisers, and financiers.

What has stirred further alarm is the alleged involvement of foreign diplomatic missions in funding and supporting these rebel groups. Uganda’s government has pointed a finger at some European embassies, accusing them of meddling in domestic affairs. In particular, the German Ambassador to Uganda, His Excellency Mathias Schauer, has been named for reportedly engaging in activities that violate the 1961 Vienna Convention, which governs diplomatic conduct.

The government has vowed to follow up the matter through official diplomatic channels but warned that it will not tolerate any foreign interference that could destabilize the country. The Ministry of Defence has made it clear that Uganda will protect its sovereignty at all costs and take firm action against both local and foreign actors involved in such subversive plots.

Ugandan youths have been urged not to fall for the promises and manipulation of these rebel groups. Instead, the government is encouraging them to take advantage of various wealth creation and youth development programs that aim to improve their livelihoods and secure a better future.

As investigations continue, the government has pledged to continue identifying and isolating all individuals involved in these treacherous acts. Security forces are working tirelessly to maintain peace, and the public is advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity in their communities.
