After many years of serving Uganda in different important roles, Minister of Water and Environment, Sam Cheptoris, has decided to retire from politics. Speaking to the people of Kapchorwa, he announced that he would not be running again for Member of Parliament for Kapchorwa Municipality. This marks the end of an era for a man who has dedicated much of his life to public service.
Cheptoris said it is now time for him to rest and spend quality time with his family. After giving so much to the country, he feels he has earned the chance to enjoy his retirement in peace. His decision was not made out of pressure, but out of personal reflection and a desire to make room for new leaders.
However, he did not leave without a strong message for the people. Cheptoris urged all Ugandans to vote wisely in the coming elections. He asked them to reject money politics, where candidates try to buy votes with cash or gifts. Instead, he encouraged citizens to choose leaders based on their honesty, vision, and ability to serve the people well.
His message is a powerful reminder of what true leadership should be about service, integrity, and love for the country. As he steps away from the political stage, many will remember Cheptoris not just for his work, but for the values he stood for.
Sam Cheptoris may be retiring, but his words will continue to inspire both voters and future leaders. Uganda needs people who will lead with honesty and put the country first and Cheptoris has set that example.
