Gen Muhoozi Cracks Down!! Arrests Two Army Officers Linked To Rebel Infiltration

Must read

Two top Ugandan military intelligence officers have been arrested following serious allegations of misconduct within the army. The officers — Colonel Peter Ahimbisibwe and Lieutenant Colonel Ephraim Byaruhanga — were taken into custody on the orders of General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Chief of Defence Forces.

Colonel Ahimbisibwe was the Director of Counter Terrorism, while Lieutenant Colonel Byaruhanga headed Special Operations. Both were arrested at the Defence Intelligence and Security (DIS) headquarters in Mbuya, a major military center in Kampala.

According to military sources, the arrests are part of a larger investigation into possible subversion within the army. Authorities suspect that the departments led by these officers were infiltrated by operatives of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), a dangerous rebel group responsible for terror attacks in Uganda and surrounding countries.

One of the most serious accusations is that these intelligence departments may have sent false information to top military leaders. This could have led to poor decision-making during operations, weakening the country’s ability to fight threats.

Although no formal charges have been made yet, the arrests show how serious the army is about cleaning up its internal systems. General Muhoozi, who has been leading efforts to strengthen the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), has made it clear that misconduct and corruption will not be tolerated. He has already arrested several officers in the past for corruption, insubordination, and sabotaging government programs.

The Defence Intelligence and Security unit is very important for Uganda’s safety. It handles sensitive matters like spying on threats and stopping terrorist attacks. So, the possibility that rebel spies might have infiltrated this department is very alarming.

More arrests may still come, as the military digs deeper into the issue. For now, the Ministry of Defence has not released an official statement, but the message from within the army is loud and clear: no one is above the law, especially when it comes to national security.
