The Indian Military Advisory and Training Team (IMATT) has officially ended its two-year mission in Uganda. On this special occasion, the Head of the team, Brigadier General BS Fogat, and his delegation paid a farewell visit to the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), General Muhoozi Kainerugaba. The visit marked the end of their fruitful service and cooperation with the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF).
During the meeting, Gen Kainerugaba expressed his deep appreciation to Brig Gen Fogat and his team for their valuable contribution to the development of Uganda’s military training programs. He praised their commitment and hard work, noting that their efforts had strengthened the relationship between the Indian and Ugandan armed forces. He also thanked them for supporting the UPDF in improving its standards and professional training, especially at the Senior Command and Staff College (SCSC) in Kimaka, where the team was based.
In his response, Brig Gen Fogat expressed heartfelt thanks for the warm hospitality and excellent cooperation received from the Ugandan military leadership. He applauded Gen Kainerugaba for being directly involved in the progress of UPDF’s training initiatives. According to him, this hands-on leadership greatly boosted the effectiveness of their joint efforts.
As the outgoing team prepares to return home, a new group of Indian military advisors is ready to take over the responsibilities. This ensures that the strong military partnership between Uganda and India will continue smoothly. The farewell was not just a goodbye, but a celebration of friendship, teamwork, and shared success.
