Uganda, China Strengthen Military Ties as Chinese Defence Team Visits Gen Kainerugaba

The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) of Uganda, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, welcomed senior Chinese military officials this morning at the Special Forces Command Headquarters in Entebbe. The visit was led by Colonel Zhang Hao, the Chinese Defence Attaché to Uganda, along with his deputy, Colonel Li Hai.

The Chinese delegation paid a courtesy visit to General Kainerugaba as a sign of the strong friendship between the two countries. During their meeting, both sides discussed ways to strengthen the relationship between Uganda and China, focusing especially on military cooperation.

General Kainerugaba praised China for its long-lasting and friendly partnership with Uganda. He noted that China has been a key strategic ally, supporting Uganda in various ways, especially in areas related to defence and security. He expressed appreciation for the continued support from the Chinese government and military.

In return, Colonel Zhang and Colonel Li assured the General of China’s ongoing commitment to working closely with Uganda. They highlighted the shared interest in peace, security, and development, and promised to keep supporting efforts to build a stronger military partnership.

The meeting is another sign of the growing collaboration between the two nations. Over the years, Uganda and China have worked together in areas such as defence technology, training programs, and improving military capabilities. These partnerships are expected to grow even stronger following this latest engagement.

As both countries continue to deepen their ties, today’s meeting marks another important step toward a more secure and cooperative future between Uganda and China.
