President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has arrived in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, for a two-day working visit aimed at strengthening the long-standing relationship between Uganda and Tanzania.The President arrived at Julius Nyerere International Airport where he was received by Tanzania’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Hon. Mahmoud Kombo, ahead of a series of high-level engagements with Tanzanian officials.
The visit comes following an invitation from Tanzanian President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, with the two leaders expected to hold bilateral discussions focused on areas of mutual interest between the two East African countries.During the talks, President Museveni and President Samia are expected to discuss ways of expanding cooperation in trade and investment, infrastructure development, energy, transport, tourism, peace and security, and regional integration.The discussions are expected to strengthen the partnership between Uganda and Tanzania, particularly in areas that support economic growth, regional connectivity and improved opportunities for citizens of both countries.Uganda and Tanzania have maintained strong historical ties, with both nations working together through regional frameworks such as the East African Community (EAC) to promote cooperation, stability and economic development.
As part of the visit, the two leaders will witness the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at enhancing cooperation in different sectors. The agreements are expected to provide a framework for deeper collaboration between the two governments.President Museveni and President Samia will also address a joint press briefing where they are expected to share highlights from their discussions and outline areas of continued partnership between Uganda and Tanzania.The visit highlights the commitment of both countries to strengthening bilateral relations and promoting regional integration through increased cooperation in economic, security and development matters.
