Bulambuli Locals Ask?? Why Does Burundo Alex’s Academic Documents Bear The Name Musingo Alex, Just Allegedly Like His ‘Cousin

Must read

A new development has come up in the case involving NRM parliamentary hopeful Burundo Alex. He is being accused of using fake academic papers to compete in the 2026 elections for Bulambuli County.

Some voters now believe that the documents Burundo submitted are not his, but actually belong to his cousin, Musingo Alex. This has made the situation even more confusing.

To explain, Burundo said Musingo is his cousin and “the brother to the sister in Kampala,” where he says he stayed while attending Aggrey Memorial School.

But this explanation brings up a serious question: If Musingo is just his cousin, why do the academic documents also carry the name Musingo Alex?

In Uganda, it is very rare for cousins to have exactly the same full name. People think this is not a simple coincidence. It becomes more suspicious when only one set of academic documents exists—and those are now being used by Burundo.

One voter said this doesn’t look like a family mix-up—it looks like an attempt to hide the truth.

A complaint sent to the NRM Electoral Commission says that Burundo worked as an LCIII chairman under the name “Burundo Alex” for over 15 years. All his records—government payments, salary slips, and voter information—show that name. But in 2016, just before running for MP, he changed his name to “Burundo Musingo Mungoma Alex” using a deed poll.

In 2019, he changed the order of his names again to “Burundo Mungoma Musingo Alex.” Both changes happened close to elections.

Now, many people believe these changes were not accidental. They think Burundo changed his name to match his cousin’s so that he could use his cousin’s school certificates as his own.

The complaint also says that Wahanwanyi Primary School, where Burundo says he studied, had no UNEB exam center at the time. This means he could not have officially done his Primary Leaving Exams there.

To make matters worse, former teachers and students from Aggrey Memorial and Mbale Secondary School—the schools listed on the papers—say they don’t remember Burundo ever attending. They say the documents actually belong to Musingo Alex, his cousin.

So the big question is: If the documents are Musingo’s, why is Burundo using them? Why did he change his name just before election time to match his cousin’s?

The whistleblower says this is not a mistake—it’s a planned act of impersonation and academic fraud. If the NRM Electoral Commission does not deal with the matter properly and quickly, it could lead to court cases or even Burundo being disqualified.

As the investigation continues, one thing is clear: either two cousins share the same name and school records by chance—or someone is lying to the people of Bulambuli.
