The former Spokesperson of UPDF Paddy Ankunda is among the three UPDF officers who have been promoted to the higher ranks by the Chief of Defence Forces CDF Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Spyreports has learnt.
According to the message issued by CDF, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Ankunda has been elevated from the Rank of Col. To Brig.Gen. Ankunda who is currently serving as Assistant Chief of Defence Intelligence and security in charge of international affairs has been on the Rank of Col for along time.
“We are so happy for Akunda’s promotion to the level of General. He really deserved it. He had over stayed on the Rank of Col. This man is very bright and intelligent when it comes to military. He has always been the winner whenever he attends the course,” Says one of the higher ranking UPDF officers.
“I trained Akunda when he came to attend Junior staff at Kimaka in Jinja. He was very sharp and knowledgeable , he became the winner at the end of the course,” says Another UPDF Chief adding that Akunda does not have any bad record in the Army.
Other officers who benefited In CDF promotions were Former Commandant of National Defence College (NDC) Major Gen Francis Okello who was promoted to Lt Gen which is the second highest rank in UPDF. Gen Okello is set to retire this month alongside Gen Elweru and others.
Col Geoffrey Karugaba the Uganda’s Defence attache to United Kingdom has also been promoted to the Rank of Brig. Gen. UPDF congarucurates the promoted officers and wish them the best in their new ranks.
