Police in Kajjansi have arrested a man believed to be behind a series of phone snatching incidents that have recently troubled the community. The suspect, Kizito Yasin, also known by the nickname Mr. Kampala, was taken into custody following a robbery report made on July 29, 2025.
According to police, Ayebale Pearl was on her way to work when two men on a red Haojue motorcycle snatched her phone. The robbery happened near the AKRIGHT area, and she quickly reported the crime to the police at the AKRIGHT Police Station. Officers launched a fast investigation and began tracking down the culprits.
Not long after, the police arrested Kizito, who was found in possession of a red Haojue motorcycle. Interestingly, the bike had suspiciously tilted number plates — a common trick used by criminals to avoid identification. The victim later confirmed that Kizito was one of the two men who stole her phone.
Kizito is not new to the police. He had just finished a two-year prison sentence at Kigo Prison for a similar offense. Since his release, there had been a noticeable rise in phone snatching cases in the area, leading officers to believe he may have resumed his old habits.
Residents have praised the police for their quick response, hoping that Kizito’s arrest will help reduce street robberies. Authorities say investigations are ongoing, and efforts to arrest his accomplice are still underway. Meanwhile, police urge the public to stay alert and report any suspicious behavior in their neighborhoods.
