Security Is the Backbone of Prosperity, Says Tom Magambo, CID Director in Eye-Opening Lecture

Must read

This morning, the Director of Criminal Investigations Department (CID) delivered a powerful and thought-provoking lecture to a group of trainees at the School of Defence Intelligence and Security (SODIS) in Migyera. The session, described as a “Lecture of Opportunity,” was designed to equip the trainees with real-world insights beyond their textbooks and drills. It focused on a vital theme: the connection between national security, law and order, and socioeconomic transformation.

In his presentation, the Director highlighted how peace and stability are essential for a nation to grow. He explained that national security is not just about defending borders or arresting criminals. Instead, it also involves protecting the systems that allow people to live and work in peace—schools, hospitals, markets, and homes. When citizens feel safe, businesses thrive, investments grow, and communities prosper.

The CID Director also stressed that law and order must be upheld with fairness and integrity. “No society can develop if justice is only for the few,” he told the attentive trainees. He urged them to always act professionally, resist corruption, and serve with honor. “You are not just enforcers—you are protectors of the people’s hopes and dreams,” he said.

Throughout the lecture, he connected the dots between security and development, emphasizing that true socioeconomic transformation cannot happen in an environment of fear and lawlessness. The message was clear: strong institutions and honest security officers can play a key role in lifting communities out of poverty and into prosperity.

As the session ended, many of the trainees were seen taking notes, nodding with inspiration, and discussing the points among themselves. The visit by the CID Director was not just a routine speech—it was a call to duty, a challenge to be the generation that helps build a stronger, safer, and more prosperous nation.

This lecture marks another important step in preparing Uganda’s future security leaders, not just as officers in uniform, but as nation-builders dedicated to peace, justice, and progress.
