Breaking the Silence!! Facts on the Kajjansi Sexual Assault Investigation

Must read

The Uganda Police Force has addressed circulating claims about the handling of a rape case at Kajjansi Police Station. Some reports suggested that officers bypassed due process and unlawfully seized property from the suspect’s home. The Police have clarified the facts to set the record straight.

On the night of 23rd August 2025, around 11:00 PM, Kajjansi Police registered a rape case reported by a 22-year-old hairdresser from Zana, Makindye Municipality, Wakiso District. According to her account, she met Ngobi Simon in July 2025 at Karting, Lubowa, and kept in contact with him. On 23rd August, she agreed to meet him again. She alleges that after being given an alcoholic drink, she was taken to Canaan Estate, Akright, Kajjansi, where she was raped by Ngobi Simon and another man known only as “Chairman.”

Police acted quickly upon receiving the report. A team of detectives, SOCO officers, and uniformed personnel visited the crime scene. They recovered bedding and other important evidence, including HIV testing kits. The victim received a medical examination and was enrolled for specialized care for rape victims. The vehicle allegedly used to transport the victim, a silver-grey Subaru with registration UBP 276F, was also recovered and held at Kajjansi Police Station for ongoing investigations. Witness statements, including those from estate security guards, were obtained. Early findings indicate that the victim managed to lock herself in a room after the assault, causing the suspects to flee.

Concerns have been raised on social media about alleged extortion and unlawful property seizure. The Police clarified that all recovered property was collected according to proper investigative procedures to preserve evidence in sexual assault cases. No illegal raids or extortion occurred, and the suspects were not present at the premises during the recovery. The Police leadership emphasized that any officer found abusing authority or engaging in extortion will face investigation and disciplinary action.

The two prime suspects, Ngobi Simon and “Chairman,” are currently at large. Police urge them to come forward and give their statements to ensure due process is followed. The Uganda Police Force strongly condemns sexual violence and remains committed to professionalism, transparency, and protecting the rights of all parties involved. Investigations are ongoing, and the public will be updated as new information becomes available.

ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, appealed to the public to remain calm, patient, and communicate responsibly while the investigation continues.
