Uganda’s efforts to strengthen its digital economy have received a major boost as key stakeholders gathered for the 7th Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) Meeting of the Uganda ICT Industry Promotion Project (UJ-Connect).
The meeting, held at the Innovation Hub Uganda in Nakawa, brought together representatives from the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), members of the UJ-Connect Technical Committees, and other partners involved in the project.
The discussions focused on reviewing the progress made by UJ-Connect, sharing lessons from its implementation, celebrating achievements, and discussing plans for the remaining period of the project.
UJ-Connect has played an important role in developing Uganda’s ICT sector by supporting skills development, encouraging technology-driven entrepreneurship, creating business connections, and promoting policies that support innovation and digital growth.
Through the partnership between Uganda and Japan, the project continues to create new opportunities for young people, ICT professionals, and businesses. The initiative is helping to build a stronger ICT ecosystem where innovators can develop solutions, access opportunities, and contribute to Uganda’s economic development.
The Ministry of ICT noted that the collaboration has continued to strengthen Uganda’s digital transformation journey by supporting the growth of local talent and promoting the use of technology in solving business and social challenges.
As Uganda continues to expand its digital economy, UJ-Connect remains a key platform in connecting skills, innovation, and investment opportunities while preparing the country to compete in the global technology space.
The continued cooperation between Uganda and Japan is expected to further support the development of a vibrant ICT industry that benefits businesses, young innovators, and communities across the country.
