Building Safer Communities!! Uganda Police Trains Stakeholders on Ending GBV and Violence Against Children

Must read

Yesterday, a one-week training on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Violence Against Children (VAC) came to a successful close at Nyaika Hotel in Fort Portal City, Rwenzori West Region. The training brought together stakeholders, Uganda Police officers, and both host and refugee communities. The main goal was to equip participants with the knowledge and practical skills needed to prevent and respond to cases of GBV and VAC in their daily work.

The Director in charge of Political Commissariat in the Uganda Police urged participants to put into practice the lessons learned during the training. He emphasized that applying these skills consistently would have a lasting positive impact on the lives of those they serve. He encouraged all attendees to be beacons of hope and compassion, making meaningful differences in their communities.

He also highlighted that GBV and VAC are complex issues that require a coordinated and comprehensive response. Addressing these problems goes beyond individual effort—it demands teamwork, dedication, and ongoing engagement. The Director called on everyone to continue working together to prevent and respond to cases of abuse, exploitation, and violence, and to promote a culture of respect, dignity, and safety for all. He concluded with a powerful message: let us strive to create a society where everyone, whether a refugee or member of a host community, can live without fear.
