The nomination of presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, has been rescheduled to Wednesday at 2:00 PM. The change comes after concerns that the original timing was deliberately set to coincide with the nomination of incumbent President Gen. Yoweri Museveni. Supporters believe the move was intended to prevent Bobi Wine from holding his two planned rallies on the same day.
Bobi Wine expressed gratitude to citizens across the country who rallied to submit extra signatures, ensuring that no technical excuses could prevent his nomination. “A BIG THANK YOU to all people across the country who expressed concern and rushed to bring in extra signatures to ensure they had no excuse whatsoever,” he said, reassuring supporters that the nomination will go ahead as planned.
Despite the delay, Bobi Wine and his team remain determined. The rescheduling has not dampened the enthusiasm of his supporters, who continue to mobilize nationwide in anticipation of the event. With the nomination now set for Wednesday at 2:00 PM, the focus is on turning out in large numbers and demonstrating strong public support.
The situation highlights the challenges faced by opposition candidates in Uganda, where timing and political maneuvering can play a significant role in shaping election processes. Nevertheless, Bobi Wine’s message is clear: the nomination will proceed, and supporters remain united in their determination to make their voices heard.
