A tragic road accident claimed three lives and left one person injured on the morning of October 20, 2025, at around 8:30 a.m. The fatal crash occurred at Kyoga village, Namusera parish, Wakiso Town Council, along the busy Kampala–Hoima highway.
According to reports, a red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle (registration number UGD 327F) carrying four occupants was traveling from Hoima to Kampala when the rider suddenly stopped to avoid colliding with a parked Sinotruk truck and an oncoming vehicle. In the process, all four people on the motorcycle fell off, leading to the deaths of three and serious injuries to one.
The deceased have been identified as Byandagalo Shafick (28 years old), who was the rider, Galabuzi Robinson (27 years old), and Jjemba Shafick (23 years old). The injured person, Edison, a resident of Nkoowe village, Kaliti parish, Mende sub-county, Wakiso district, was rushed to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
Traffic police officers swiftly responded to the scene of the accident. They documented the incident, recorded witness statements, and arranged for the bodies of the deceased to be transported to Mulago City Mortuary for postmortem examination.
Police have since launched an investigation into the cause of the accident. The Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) spokesperson, SSP Patrick Onyango, confirmed the incident and urged road users to observe safety precautions, especially when overtaking or maneuvering around stationary vehicles.
This unfortunate accident serves as a reminder of the growing number of road crashes on Uganda’s highways, many of which are caused by careless driving, overloading, and failure to observe traffic rules. Authorities continue to appeal to motorists and motorcyclists to exercise maximum caution to prevent further loss of life.
