UCC Supports Artists to Perform Safely and Responsibly

Must read

Ahead of his highly anticipated concert on Friday, November 21st, at Lugogo Cricket Oval, Mr. Ssemanda Mansur, popularly known as King Saha, met with ED UCC Hon. Nyombi Thembo to discuss preparations and compliance matters. The conversation focused on ensuring that the event follows the law and sets a good example for the creative industry in Uganda.

A key topic was the importance of adhering to the Stage Plays and Public Entertainment Act, which requires all artists and promoters to obtain a performance permit before advertising or organizing any public event. This law is in place to promote safety, order, and professionalism in the entertainment sector, protecting both performers and the public.

Hon. Nyombi Thembo also highlighted the need for artists to distinguish between artistic expression and political activism. Music has the power to inspire, unite, and spark meaningful conversations, but it carries responsibility. Artists like King Saha play a vital role in guiding public discussion in positive and constructive ways.

King Saha expressed his commitment to professionalism and his willingness to follow the proper procedures. This dedication demonstrates how artists can balance creativity with responsibility, showing respect for the laws that protect the industry and its audiences.

The Uganda Communications Commission, under ED Hon. Nyombi Thembo, continues to support artists by providing guidance and ensuring they thrive in a safe, accountable, and vibrant creative environment. Events like King Saha’s concert are opportunities to celebrate music while reinforcing the standards that make Uganda’s entertainment sector strong and respected.
