Must read

Police in Kanungu District have arrested a woman identified as Nizamukunda Noziatah after she was found in possession of coffee stolen from a garden belonging to Tindimuwa Mathias, a resident of Nganga Village in Nyanga Parish, Nyanga Subcounty.

According to police, the theft happened on the night of November 13, 2025, when the suspect allegedly entered the victim’s garden and harvested his coffee without permission. Once the case was reported, officers from the Canine Unit, working with investigators, immediately visited the scene to begin tracking the culprit.

The crime scene had been well preserved, allowing the officers to introduce a police sniffer dog named Clara, who picked up the suspect’s scent without difficulty. Clara successfully followed the trail for nearly 200 meters, leading the officers straight to Nizamukunda’s home. Upon searching the premises, police recovered the stolen coffee, confirming the suspect’s involvement.

Nizamukunda was arrested on the spot and taken into custody. Police say she will appear in court soon to answer charges related to the theft.

Authorities have urged the public to always keep crime scenes untouched whenever a crime occurs. They explained that proper preservation helps the K9 unit work more effectively, allowing sniffer dogs to follow fresh trails and solve cases faster.
