Uganda Champions Digital Inclusion at Global Telecom Summit

Must read

Uganda is making waves on the global digital stage at the 2025 World Telecommunication Development Conference (#WTDC25) in Baku, Azerbaijan. The country is highlighting its commitment to digital inclusion and practical solutions for connectivity gaps, especially in rural areas.

On Tuesday, Hon. Godfrey Kabbyanga and Hon. Nyombi Thembo represented Uganda, presenting the nation’s digital policy during both the Policy Session and the High-Level Dialogue. They shared Uganda’s experience with challenges such as rural connectivity, access to digital tools, and the need to equip citizens with practical digital skills.

The ministers called for a future where emerging technologies, affordability, and meaningful access are not just lofty global goals but everyday realities for communities across Uganda. Their message emphasized that digital progress should be measured by how it transforms lives on the ground, not just by technological advancements.

By centering real-world experiences and advocating for inclusive digital policies, Uganda is sending a clear signal: digital transformation must benefit all citizens, leaving no community behind. The country’s active participation at #WTDC25 positions it as a key voice in shaping a connected and equitable digital future.
