President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who is on his last campaign days has assured of Educational Support to Apex International University based in Wakiso District, Spyreports has learnt.
The President made his assurance on Sunday during a high level meeting with the Management of the University which included Director of the University and Head of special duties. “Am reaffirming the government’s commitment to expanding access to affordable higher Education for Ugandans,” Says President Museveni during the meeting. The meeting further centered on State House supported initiative aimed at enabling government sponsored students to enroll at the Apex International University on full tuition bursaries.
“All Ugandans regardless of the tribe, background and social-economical status can have access to quality and affordable University Education,” Assures President Museveni.
He also praised the University for lowering tuition fees model saying the institution is a strategic partner in widening access to higher Education. The President assured of continued government support for the University Education saying that affordable education is critical to National Development and human Capital growth.
He also said that he would conven a follow up meeting with the University council after elections to explore long term collaboration and policy alignment in support of affordable education agenda.
The proposed bursary is expected to significantly reduce financial barriers to high education and contribute to building a skilled workforce to support Uganda’s economic development.
