The IGG, Lady Justice Naluzze Aisha Batala, has urged the youth to espouse the values of Integrity and accountability which she said are crucial for every everyone aspiring to become a leader.
The IGG made the clarion call on 12th January, 2026, while officiating at the Baganda Nkoba Zambogo Students Association mentorship session at @Makerere
Speaking under the theme, “The role of the youth in upholding national values and advancing accountability”, the IGG challenged the youth to use their time wisely and make a positive contribution towards building the country.
“This is your moment. This is your responsibility. This is your generation’s contribution to the destiny of our country. The Inspectorate of Government calls upon the youth to embrace integrity, defend accountability, reject corruption, demand transparency, serve with dignity, and honour culture,” she said.
She noted that corruption prospers where values are weak, absence of accountability and citizens’ silence.
To fight corruption, she said, is not only to punish wrongdoing, but to defend development, dignity, and national identity.
“Corruption is not harmless. It steals medicines from health centres, desks from classrooms, jobs from graduates, opportunities from innovators, and futures from the youth. It weakens the state, undermines service delivery, distorts competition, and destroys trust between the citizen and the state”, she said.
Deputy IGG, @AnneTwino ,warned the youth against living in a vacuum since they are the future’s leaders, professionals and thinkers.
“Your decisions, what you create, defend, and who you elect, have profound consequences. Choose leaders that espouse the values that build the nation, not those who exploit its divisions. Hold them, and yourselves, to the highest standard,” Mrs Muhairwe said.
She also advised the youth to stop exaggerating the struggles of their country and instead be involved in making things right.
“So, as you step forward from this place, choose to be different in a world that often encourages selfishness, fragmentation, and short-term gain. Choose unity over division, construction over criticism, and service over mere success,” she said.
Bishop Joshua Lwere, General Overseer of the National Fellowship of the Born Again Pentecostal Churches, advised the youth to uphold moral standards if they are to become great leaders.
“Discipline starts with the small things; prayer, time management, honesty, empathy and selflessness among other values. That’s how you build a career as a leader, “he said.
