Police in Kampala are investigating a shocking double murder at Dave Hotel and Suites in Lungujja, which occurred on February 7, 2026. The victims, identified as Asasira Shivani, 30, the hotel manager, and Musinguzi Lawrence, approximately 27, the hotel’s security guard, were found dead in separate rooms after suffering fatal stab wounds to the neck. The gruesome incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, as residents and hotel staff struggle to come to terms with the violent attack.
Preliminary police reports reveal that the tragedy unfolded during the morning hours. At around 10:00 a.m., the hotel owner received a call from Asasira Shivani, who expressed concern that she could not find Musinguzi Lawrence and that his phone was switched off. This unusual communication raised the owner’s suspicions, but the situation escalated later in the day.
By 11:30 a.m., when the owner attempted to return the manager’s call, he received no response. Growing increasingly worried, he went to the hotel at approximately 3:00 p.m. and made a horrifying discovery. Both the manager and the security guard had been brutally murdered, with stab wounds evident around the neck. The attackers had also stolen a white Toyota Harrier, registration number UBH 633M, from the premises.
The police have conveyed the bodies to Mulago Hospital Mortuary, where post-mortem examinations are pending. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident or the stolen vehicle to come forward, as investigations intensify to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
“This is a shocking act of violence, and we are doing everything possible to trace and arrest the suspects,” said SP Rachel Kawala, Police PRO for Kampala Metropolitan Police. She added that all leads are being pursued, and police are working closely with local residents and businesses to gather information.
The brutal nature of the killings has left the local community in fear. Residents of Mbubi Zone, Lungujja Parish, have described the victims as hardworking individuals who were well-respected in the area. Many expressed disbelief that such a violent crime could occur in broad daylight at a busy hotel.
Police are also investigating whether the stolen vehicle was used in the escape and are reviewing nearby CCTV footage for potential clues. The incident has highlighted concerns about security in commercial establishments in the area, prompting other business owners to increase safety measures.
As the investigation continues, authorities are appealing to the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity around hotels, lodges, and residential areas. The police have assured the community that they are committed to bringing the culprits to justice.
The tragic deaths of Asasira Shivani and Musinguzi Lawrence serve as a grim reminder of the risks faced by frontline workers in Uganda. Both were fulfilling their duties when the attack occurred, leaving families, friends, and colleagues devastated by their sudden loss.
This case is now a top priority for the Kampala Metropolitan Police, with detectives working tirelessly to piece together the timeline of events, identify the attackers, and recover the stolen vehicle.
Authorities have also requested that anyone with knowledge of unusual phone activity or suspicious individuals around Dave Hotel and Suites on February 7 contact Lungujja Police Station immediately.
The community hopes that swift police action will bring relief and restore a sense of safety to the area. Meanwhile, families of the deceased are left mourning while seeking answers and justice for their loved ones.
The police investigation continues, and more updates are expected as detectives make progress in this complex case.
