Significant changes have taken place in the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party leadership in Bulambuli District. Three incumbents, Hon. Mudimi Inyasio, Hon. Katenya Isaac, and Irene Muloni, were rejected by the electorates primarily due to their disconnection from the people they were supposed to serve..
The rejection of these leaders can be attributed to various factors. Hon. Katenya Isaac’s perceived incompetence in handling parliamentary affairs and his failure to effectively represent the interests of his constituents led to widespread discontent among the electorate. His lies and lack of transparency further eroded the trust between him and the people.
Irene Muloni’s rejection can be linked to her detachment from the electorate. It appears that her late husband’s lobbying efforts, which may have previously secured her position, were no longer enough to garner support from the voters. The voters seem to have made it clear that they want leaders who prioritize their needs and concerns above personal interests.
The general sentiment among voters was that Hon. Mudimi Inyasio had also detached himself from his electorate, leading to his rejection.
In contrast, new leaders have emerged victorious, signaling a desire for change and effective leadership in the district. Biara Emmanuel Wepukhulu has taken over Bulambuli Constituency with a resounding victory, winning 8 out of 10 sub-counties. His manifesto focuses on key priorities such as education, healthcare, road infrastructure, agriculture, youth and women empowerment, and climate action.
Biara’s leadership style is characterized by accountability, empowerment, and a shared vision for a better future. His track record of delivery through the Biara Foundation, which has provided piped water, agricultural support, and education initiatives, has earned him the trust of many in the district.
Nambozo Wekomba has won the woman’s seat, potentially bringing new perspectives and advocacy for women’s rights and empowerment. Massa Moses has taken over Elgon County, and it will be interesting to see how his leadership unfolds.
The emergence of these new leaders marks a new era for Bulambuli District. With Biara Emmanuel Wepukhulu at the helm of Bulambuli Constituency, the people have reason to be optimistic about a brighter future. The question remains whether these new leaders will deliver on their promises and meet the expectations of their constituents.
