A major meeting has been scheduled for Members of Parliament (MPs) from the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party. The MPs have been summoned to State House Entebbe on Monday, May 19, 2025, at exactly 2:00 PM for a special caucus gathering.
The announcement was made on Thursday, May 15, by the Government Chief Whip, Hon. Denis Hamson Obua. According to him, this meeting is not just a regular get-together—it has been called under the strict directive of the NRM National Chairperson, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
In his statement, Hon. Obua made it very clear: attendance is not optional. All NRM MPs are expected to be physically present, with no exceptions.
“This is a directive from the NRM National Chairperson. All members must attend. The official notice will follow in due course,” he said in a brief but firm communication.
Though the agenda for the meeting has not been officially shared with the public, the urgent nature of the summons has sparked curiosity and speculation within political circles. With the country facing various political and economic challenges, many believe the meeting could be about big decisions or key changes coming soon.
Some political analysts are predicting that the President might use the session to guide MPs on upcoming legislation, party discipline, or government strategy on pressing national issues. Others think it could be related to preparations for future elections, regional matters, or even reshuffles within government or Parliament.
This isn’t the first time NRM MPs have been summoned to State House, but the strong tone of the notice and the emphasis on physical presence have raised eyebrows. It suggests that the matters to be discussed are serious and possibly sensitive.
The NRM Caucus meetings often play a key role in aligning party MPs with the President’s agenda and ensuring unity within the party’s ranks. With nearly every NRM MP expected to attend, the country will be watching closely to see what unfolds behind the closed doors of State House.
Stay tuned we’ll be following up once the official statement and agenda are released.
