Police in Nakasongola District are investigating a shocking case of child abduction that happened on the evening of August 6, 2025. The incident took place around 9:00 PM in Nabiswera village, Kyangogolo parish, in Nabiswera Sub-county, which is located in the Savannah Region. A three-year-old child suddenly went missing from their home compound while playing outside with an older brother.
According to reports, the children’s parents were inside the house at the time. A stranger reportedly approached the children, offered them sweets, and cleverly distracted the older brother by giving him five hundred shillings to go buy biscuits. When the brother returned, he was shocked to find that his younger sibling had disappeared without a trace.
The family quickly reported the case to local leaders and the police. Authorities responded immediately and launched a serious search effort in the area and neighboring villages. The police used motorized patrols to check nearby roads, recorded statements from family members, and created a sketch plan of the scene to guide their investigation. A photo of the missing child has also been shared with other agencies to help with identification and recovery.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) S. Twiineamazima, the spokesperson for the Savannah Region, confirmed that the police are actively following all leads and treating the matter with great urgency. He urged anyone with information that could help to come forward and assist in finding the child.
Police also called on the public to stay alert and report any suspicious activities. Community cooperation, ASP Twiineamazima said, is vital in ensuring the safe and quick return of the missing child.
This heartbreaking incident has left residents in fear and concern, with many parents now on high alert. The search continues, and authorities remain hopeful that the child will be found safe.
