Inside the Mind of Calvin Echodu!! What You Missed During His Interview On NTV

Must read

During an inspiring and hopeful interview on NTV’s Talk of the Nation on 17th May 2025, Mr. Calvin Echodu, who wants to become the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Vice Chairperson for the Eastern Region, shared his vision. He said he is ready to revive the party, support young people, and help develop Eastern Uganda.

Mr. Echodu began by praising the NRM leaders for the progress made during the Party Structural Elections. He thanked the NRM National Chairman, H.E Yoweri Museveni, and the National Secretariat for starting a digital list of members and voters. He also thanked the NRM Electoral Commission for holding what he called a “very successful” election at the local level. He said the smooth running of these elections shows that the party is growing stronger in democracy. But what he said next got even more attention.

A key part of his message was the need for leaders to reconnect with the people. Mr. Echodu spoke openly and said some leaders have grown distant from the citizens they serve. He promised to fix this in Eastern Uganda. “I want to rebuild the trust between the Party and our people. We must go back to our roots,” he said. His words were simple but meaningful: leaders should be close to the people and take responsibility. He also said he believes everyone deserves to be heard, which is why his leadership would include all voices.

Mr. Echodu also talked about the serious problems in the region. He said Eastern Uganda is still the poorest part of the country. Since he grew up in Tubur, Soroti District, he understands the pain of poverty and poor development. He promised to focus on helping the region grow, especially by connecting it to national programs and global partners. His plan is not just about talking—it’s about taking real action. He wants to unlock the region’s potential and lift the lives of the people.

He spoke about the important role of young people in the future of the Party. He said many young people have good ideas and energy, but they don’t get the support they need. He laid out a plan with four main parts: finding young leaders, bringing them into the Party, training them, and giving them real roles. “Our young people are full of energy and ideas. What they lack is opportunity. I want to change that,” he said.

This interview gave people a clear view of his campaign, which is focused on people, fairness, and real change. With goals such as involving the community, giving youth a voice, and growing the region, Echodu is ready to guide NRM in a new direction. He reached out to young people who feel ignored by the current system. He told them they are welcome. He said he won’t just listen to high-ranking people. “Everyone matters. Every voice counts. From village elders to market vendors—this party should work for all,” he said. Echodu’s way of leading, his energy, and his belief in including everyone make him stand out from other leaders.

In a bold move, he also admitted that there were some problems during the NRM elections. He said these happened in only a few places—less than 5% of the total election process. Still, he made it clear that the Party is ready to deal with these issues and stop them from happening again.

Most politicians don’t talk about such things—but Echodu did. His honesty shows he’s brave and ready to speak the truth. Mr. Calvin Echodu is not the usual kind of politician. He listens and wants to serve the people. His message is strong and clear: now is the time to bring back the connection between the Party and the people. Now is the time for fresh energy in NRM.
