Joseph Mukasa Tops Makindye-Ssabagabo MP Race in Latest Opinion Poll

Must read

A recent opinion poll shows National Unity Platform (NUP) candidate Joseph Mukasa leading the race for the Makindye-Ssabagabo parliamentary seat. The survey, conducted across Namasuba, Masajja, Ndejje, Busabala, Kigo, Mutungo, Mutundwe, Seguku, Kibiri, Zana, Gangu, and Lweza, captures the voices of residents from all corners of the constituency.

According to the findings, Mukasa enjoys 48% support. Independent candidate Akram Lutaya comes in second with 18%, while incumbent MP David Serukenya falls to third place with 12%. Miriam Kaluga (NUP) is fourth with 8%, Phillip Munduni of the NRM takes fifth at 6%, and Mahad Kauma (NUP) trails at 4%.

Residents say they trust Mukasa for his consistent community engagement and his record of solving local challenges. His campaign slogan, “Service, Equity, and Transformation,” resonates strongly with constituents seeking an MP who will represent them effectively and hold leadership accountable.

Mukasa is widely known for his extensive work in community development. As Executive Director of Holistic Empowerment of the Less Privileged (HELP Uganda), he has trained thousands of youth and women in tailoring, baking, crafts, metal fabrication, hairdressing, and soap making. He has also collaborated with international partners like USAID, CDC, UNHCR, the World Bank, and the European Union to deliver development programs directly to communities.

On the academic front, Mukasa holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from Makerere University, an MBA in Finance and Investment, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management. His expertise in project management, resource mobilization, and donor compliance has enabled him to manage large partnerships and execute impactful initiatives.

Mukasa first contested the Makindye-Ssabagabo MP seat in 2011 as an independent candidate but lost. Undeterred, he continued building community programs and supporting small businesses, demonstrating his dedication to service rather than personal gain.

With NUP leadership prioritizing performance and effectiveness ahead of the 2026 elections, Mukasa’s strong track record gives him a solid advantage. If current trends hold, Joseph Mukasa appears poised to secure the NUP flag and become the constituency’s next MP, reflecting voters’ desire for credible, results-driven leadership.
