There is growing excitement in Makindye-Sabagabo as Hon. Joseph Mukasa has officially announced that he will run for Member of Parliament in the 2026 elections. He will contest under the National Unity Platform (NUP) with the slogan: “People First, Service, Equity and Transformation.” Many people in the community are already showing strong support for him.
Joseph Mukasa is well-known in Makindye-Sabagabo. For over 20 years, he has worked closely with the people, listening to their problems and helping where he can. He understands the real struggles that people face—bad roads, lack of jobs for the youth, poor health services, and limited access to good education. He knows the pain of a mother walking long distances to a clinic that has no medicine or a skilled youth who cannot find a job. These are not just stories to him—they are real issues he has seen and tried to solve.
As the Executive Director of HELP Uganda, Hon. Mukasa has helped many youth and women learn useful skills such as tailoring, baking, and hairdressing. These programs have improved the lives of many families by helping them earn a living. His experience in community work and partnerships with big organizations like USAID, CDC, and the World Bank shows that he is not only passionate about helping people, but he is also capable and experienced.
In his campaign promises, Hon. Mukasa says he will focus on fixing roads, improving drainage systems, and ensuring better public services. He plans to hold regular town hall meetings so that people can share their views and be part of the decisions made in government. He is also committed to empowering women and youth, supporting quality education, and making the environment cleaner and safer.
Above all, Joseph Mukasa calls himself a servant leader. He listens, he understands, and he takes action.
This is not the first time he is entering politics. He ran for the same seat between 2011 and 2016. Although he did not win, he never stopped helping the people. He continued his service through Rotary and his NGO, and today, the results of his work can be seen in every part of the municipality.
In his words, “Makindye-Sabagabo deserves dignity, equity, and real transformation. I will be your voice in Parliament, not my own. Together, we can build a prosperous and just community.”
Hon. Mukasa promises to be open, honest, and always available to the people. He strongly stands against corruption, injustice, and the habit of giving handouts for votes.
The people are ready for change—and so is he.
