Must read

The Central Police Station (CPS) Kampala Field Force Unit (FFU) Commander Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ombworoh Benson who retired from Uganda Police Force after serving more than 36 years claims that some top Mafias in the force sat on his ranks and left unhappy officer and his curses will come over them. “I have left the force with total disappointments. I was treated unfairly when it came to promotions. I worked so hard when it came to fighting crime in Uganda,” Narrates Ombworoh who officially retired on 11th August 2026.
He claims he played a very big role in the arrest of suspects linked in the murder of Muslim sheiks in Mayuge district during the regime of former IGP Gen Kale Kayihura. “I personally survived death because I was highly involved in the arrest of ADF terrorists who were killing Muslim sheiks. My name was mentioned and I received killing threats but I ignored them and kept pursuing them until we got them,” He revealed. He added that he was totally disappointed when Mafias in police instead forwarded the name of Nickson Agasirwe to President Museveni for recognition and was given the rank of SSP. “I was so shocked because I was assured by my bosses that I was going to meet the President for my contribution in the fight against ADF. I was very well with my speech but I was left behind,” he claims adding that he personally led the operation that led to the arrest of the ADF suspect at a mosque in Lwanika Mayuge District. “Mafias In Police rewarded my efforts to Nickson Agasirwe and was given the rank of SSP but my curses followed him and is now facing murder charges in Joan Kagezi killing,”another source quoted him saying. He claims he didn’t lose hope because ranks in police never end. “When I was deployed in Kampala as the Commander of FFU at CPS Kampala, I fought all the riots in the city. I deployed my informants in all chaotic areas in Kampala and I made sure there were no riots even my bosses called me and thanked me for my efforts and promised to reward me with a retiring promotion. “My KMP Commander put my name on the list of officers to be promoted but Mafias deleted it before the final list was sent to the President for confirmation,” he claims saying he was shocked when promotions came and his name was missing. ” I was totally shocked and even developed some diabetes when my name missed on promotion. My friends called me asking what happened and I had nothing to tell them. I only said that was God’s plans,” he revealed. Sources say even the President called IGP asking why was this man with a big stomach who he was watching on TVs fighting rioters in Kampala was not promoted? In his response the IGP claimed he was not aware but promised to follow up the matter. “When the President got concerned I thought I was going to be considered for a promotion but again Mafias played their role and my promotion was given to other officers because they heavily bribed,” Another source says. The source claims Ombworoh himself wrote several letters to the President showing his disappointments but Mafias again sat on them and the President never received them until he left the force.
