The Special Forces Command (SFC) has announced changes in its communication leadership following the decision for Maj. Jimmy Omara to attend a one-year course at the Senior Command and Staff College Kimaka.
Maj. Omara, who has been serving as the SFC Spokesperson and Public Information Officer, will now undertake advanced military training aimed at strengthening his command and leadership skills.
The Senior Command and Staff College Kimaka is one of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) institutions responsible for preparing officers for higher responsibilities in command, planning, and strategic military operations.
Following Maj. Omara’s departure for the course, Capt. Julius Kabandize has been appointed as the new SFC Spokesperson and Public Information Officer.
Capt. Kabandize will take over the responsibility of handling public communication, media engagements, and sharing official information on behalf of the Special Forces Command.
The leadership change is part of the UPDF’s continued efforts to develop its officers through professional training while ensuring smooth transitions within its units.
Maj. Omara’s move to Kimaka reflects the importance placed on continuous professional development among military officers, especially those preparing for higher leadership roles.
Meanwhile, Capt. Kabandize begins his new assignment at a time when effective communication remains a key part of military operations, helping to keep the public informed about the activities and responsibilities of the Special Forces Command.
The SFC thanked Maj. Omara for his service and wished him success in his studies, while welcoming Capt. Kabandize into his new role.
