In a major step to fight poverty and empower young people, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has announced a huge increase in funding for the ghetto youth across Uganda’s divisions.
The President revealed that the financial support for the youth in ghettos will be raised from UGX 100 million to a staggering UGX 1 billion per division.President Museveni made it clear that his mission is to see the youth out of poverty and fully involved in productive work. “I will not stop until the youth in the ghetto are organised, working and out of poverty,” he said.
This strong message shows his deep commitment to uplifting vulnerable communities, especially the young people struggling with unemployment and lack of opportunities. The increased funding is aimed at helping ghetto youth start income-generating projects, gain skills, and become self-reliant.
Many young people in these areas face daily challenges, including drug abuse, crime, and lack of education or training. With the new funding, these youth can now access capital to begin businesses, join cooperatives, or receive vocational training. This bold move by the President is expected to create a big positive change in the lives of thousands of youth across the country.
It also shows that the government is listening and ready to take action to support the future of Uganda. The youth, if properly guided and supported, have the power to transform their communities and the nation at large.More details about this initiative can be found on the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) website via this link.
