NRM delegates from Kisoro District and Kisoro Municipality have officially endorsed Mr. Calvin Echodu for the position of NRM Vice Chairperson for the Eastern Region. The endorsement took place during a well-attended meeting of party leaders, where Mr. Echodu was praised for his inclusive leadership style and commitment to strengthening the party from the grassroots level.
Leading the endorsement was Hon. Dr. Mateke Philemon, the NRM District Chairperson for Kisoro and a senior figure in the party whose influence carries significant weight. Dr. Mateke warmly welcomed Mr. Echodu and Ambassador Ocheger, describing Echodu as a committed and visionary leader. He praised Echodu’s ability to involve local leaders in his campaign and noted that such an approach reflects the kind of leadership needed at the Central Executive Committee (CEC). Dr. Mateke stated that Echodu’s dedication to party unity and grassroots engagement makes him a suitable candidate for the Eastern Region Vice Chairperson role.
The meeting was also attended by Kisoro Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Al Hajji Badru Sebyala, who applauded Mr. Echodu for prioritizing engagement with local leaders. He pointed out that, in the past, grassroots structures had been neglected, but Echodu’s direct interaction with them signals a refreshing and much-needed change in the party’s approach.
In his speech, Mr. Calvin Echodu expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and strong support from Kisoro’s leadership. He pledged to continue promoting inclusivity, economic empowerment for party cadres, and development programs that align with President Yoweri Museveni’s vision of achieving middle-income status for Uganda. He emphasized that unity, responsiveness, and grassroots strength are essential to the future success of the NRM.
This endorsement from Kisoro’s NRM delegates, especially under the leadership of Hon. Dr. Mateke Philemon, is a major boost to Mr. Echodu’s campaign. It demonstrates growing national support and reinforces the momentum behind his vision for a more connected, responsive, and people-centered party leadership.
