Delegates representing the West Nile region have come together to support David Calvin Echodu in his bid for the position of NRM National Vice Chairperson for the Eastern Region. The endorsement was announced during a meeting that gathered party leaders and members from Terego, Arua District, Arua City, and Madi-Okollo.

Alion Boniface, the NRM Chairman for Arua District, spearheaded the endorsement, voicing firm support for Echodu. He encouraged Echodu to stay grounded in the party’s grassroots network and draw inspiration from the late Rt. Hon. Jacob Oulanyah, a leader revered for his role in fostering unity. “Remain steadfast with the structural members,” Alion said. “Let’s also remember and honor Jacob Oulanyah—may he rest in peace. He was a pillar of unity in our region. We hope you can follow his example.”

Other prominent party figures also backed Echodu, including David Agwara (NRM Chair for Madi-Okollo), Amanguru Joice (NRM Chairperson for Arua City), and Alfadeo James (Terego District General Secretary). These leaders expressed dissatisfaction with the current leadership, particularly some members of the Central Executive Committee (CEC), whom they accused of neglecting the region after winning office. “The current CEC members have deserted us,” the delegates said. “We are committed to replacing them with fresh energy and leadership.”

Sarah Onyeru, a former Chief Administrative Officer and aspiring Woman MP for Terego, also voiced her support. Based on her findings, she described Echodu as a kind, generous individual dedicated to uplifting his community in Teso. Calling him a “business philanthropist,” she stated, “Calvin is the type of leader the President has been waiting for.” She urged voters to elect leaders with a proven commitment to service, like Echodu.

Born in Soroti in 1973, Echodu is known for his strong passion for community development. Speaking to the delegates, he promised to bring a new wave of energy to the NRM through grassroots mobilization. “I aim to energize the party by empowering local structures,” he said. “We will form Saccos to support party work, engage with communities directly, and promote cadre training and recruitment.”

A Resident District Commissioner (RDC) who previously worked with Echodu in Soroti also endorsed him warmly. “Calvin is like a brother. I’ve worked with him and I know his vision and leadership potential. He can truly elevate the party.”

In conclusion, the delegates were highly impressed with Echodu’s leadership qualities and plans for the future. They gave him unanimous support for the NRM National Vice Chairperson seat for Eastern Uganda, giving his campaign strong momentum to foster unity and positive change in the party and the region.
