NRM delegates from the districts of Adjumani, Moyo, and Obongi have come together to support David Calvin Echodu for the position of NRM Vice Chairperson for Eastern Uganda.
During a regional meeting, Joyce Bacho, who represents the Women’s League from Moyo District, said Echodu has the fresh energy the party needs. She added that this energy supports President Yoweri Museveni’s long-standing goal of making the party stronger at the local level.
“What I like about Echodu is his plan to bring new energy into the party. This is what the President has been asking for. We need strong NRM branches in every district,” Bacho said.
She also talked about the party’s Central Executive Committee (CEC), which makes key decisions. According to Bacho, the CEC needs fresh ideas and new energy, and Echodu is the right person to help.
Echodu said his campaign focuses on supporting NRM structures in the districts. He wants to make sure local branches have transport and other tools they need to grow the party and reach more people.
“My mission is to bring new energy into the NRM, make local branches stronger, build solid teams in the districts, and attract new members,” Echodu said. “I will work hand in hand with local leaders to do this.”
Many delegates agree with his message and believe the Eastern Region needs more active and open leadership. His campaign slogan, “New Energy to the Party,” is catching on among NRM members in the area.
The race for NRM Vice Chairperson for Eastern Uganda is expected to be competitive. More members are asking for fresh leadership that can meet the current needs of the party and the country.
A youth delegate from Obongi said, “David Calvin Echodu has the energy the NRM and the President are looking for. To keep the party strong, we need leaders who take action, not just talk.”
