The Orungo county member of parliament aspirant Teddy Anyuk Osire has extended financial support to over 18 women groups in Orungo Subcounty, Orungo county in Amuria district with each group receiving Shs100,000 so as to boost them and improve on their saving culture.
On top of the financial donation, the women groups also trained financial literacy training and entrepreneurial skills with the aim of helping them manage their finances.
“We formed our groups some years back but we have been struggling to make it. This support from Anyuk will go along way in helping us achieve our goals. “Said Martin Opio one of the beneficiaries.
Fatuma Akello another beneficiary says, Anyuk’s support will empower women a lot and lift them from poverty.
Anyuk’s aim is to empower women groups to grow into cooperatives that can support their members and contribute to poverty eradication in the whole community.
“The support is part of my broader Campaign to improve the livelihoods of Orungo County people”. Said Anyuk Osire.
