Sauda Madada Challenges Veteran MP Betty Nambooze ‘It’s Time to Step Aside’

Must read

Sauda Madada, a close ally of opposition leader Bobi Wine, has sparked a major political debate after criticizing longtime Member of Parliament, Betty Nambooze. Madada claimed that Nambooze has stayed in office for too long, comparing her tenure to that of President Museveni, and called on her to step down to allow new leaders to have a chance. Her bold statements have attracted attention from both NUP supporters and the wider public.

The disagreement started after Nambooze criticized Madada for running independently for the position of Woman Lord Councilor, Kampala Central. Nambooze accused Madada of being motivated by salary and benefits, suggesting her intentions were not genuine. Madada quickly responded, insisting that her focus is on serving the people rather than personal gain.

In an interview with Sanyuka Television, Madada explained that Nambooze’s accusations reflect her own priorities. “I don’t blame her for saying I am after the salary. That must be her focus because it is what she does. But I am here to serve my people,” she said. Her words reflected confidence and determination, positioning her as a fresh voice in the party.

Madada went further to urge Nambooze to retire from politics. She argued that the Mukono legislator has spent too many years in parliament and should not prevent others from leading. By comparing Nambooze to Museveni, she suggested that it is time for a new generation of leaders to take charge and bring change.

The young politician emphasized that leadership should not be a lifetime position. She said that serving two terms is enough for any leader to make an impact, warning that staying in power too long can turn politicians into careerists who prioritize personal gain over public service. Many Ugandans share her frustration over leaders who remain in office for decades.

This clash shows growing tension within NUP, as younger leaders like Madada challenge the party’s old guard. It raises questions about whether senior members are truly supporting change or holding onto power for themselves. Madada’s boldness has gained her both media attention and public recognition as a rising figure in Ugandan politics.

It remains unclear how Nambooze will respond to Madada’s call, but this confrontation signals a push for renewal and fairness in the party. For Madada, this is more than just a personal disagreement—it is a fight for fresh leadership and new opportunities for young politicians in Uganda.
