Top Indian Gold Dealer Wanted Over Gold Scandal at Namirembe Police Station

Must read

A major scandal has erupted at Namirembe Police Station involving a top Indian gold dealer who is now wanted by police over a gold-related bribery case. The dealer is accused of working closely with police officers to release a Congolese man who had been arrested with suspected illegal gold.

The incident began when the Officer in Charge (OC) of Namirembe Police Station arrested the Congolese suspect in connection with suspected gold smuggling. Instead of handling the case through proper legal channels, the OC secretly reached out to Akampurira Davis, an officer attached to the mineral department, to get involved in the matter.

Soon after, the Congolese suspect, eager to avoid prosecution, allegedly paid a large bribe. Investigations later revealed that this bribe was orchestrated by the Indian gold dealer, who coordinated with the OC and Davis to secure the suspect’s release—along with the gold he had been caught with.

According to sources familiar with the investigation, the Indian dealer was the central figure in the scheme, using his connections and money to influence police officers and disrupt justice. His actions point to a broader and more organized effort to smuggle or traffic gold under the protection of compromised law enforcement officers.

As the case came under scrutiny, the OC reportedly confessed during interrogation that he had worked with Davis to facilitate the release. As a result, Akampurira Davis was immediately removed from the mineral department, and both he and the OC are now under formal investigation by internal police units.

Meanwhile, the Indian gold dealer remains at large and is being actively pursued by authorities. Police say arresting him is key to uncovering the full scope of the illegal gold trade operation and dismantling the network behind it.

The scandal has shaken public confidence and raised serious concerns about corruption within the police force and the mineral sector. Authorities have promised a thorough and transparent investigation to ensure accountability and to restore trust in law enforcement.

As the manhunt for the Indian dealer intensifies, pressure mounts on Namirembe Police Station to demonstrate that those involved in bribery and abuse of power will face justice—regardless of rank or background.
