In Makindye-Ssabagabo, many residents are openly saying they have lost trust in their current Member of Parliament, Hon. David Serukenya. The people complain that after he won the seat, he disappeared from the community. His offices remained closed most of the time, and many residents could not reach him for help. They also point out that he has never spoken in Parliament on issues affecting the constituency, something that has left them feeling voiceless.
Because of this disappointment, locals are now turning their support to Hon. Joseph Mukasa, who has shown a very different style of leadership. Unlike David, Mukasa is known for being present and active in the community. He does not wait for elections to appear. People see him walking with them, listening to their challenges, and providing real support.
Over the years, Hon. Mukasa has been part of many community outreach programs. He has visited different groups and moderators in places like Zanta, Kanaaba, Busabala, Seguku, and Kigo. In these visits, he has offered basic essentials to families in need. He has also supported special initiatives in his constituency and other smaller private projects, showing care for those who are often forgotten.
His work with churches and fundraising efforts has also brought communities together. Many residents say that his generosity and service have touched them personally. They believe that he is not only capable of speaking for them in Parliament but also of finding practical solutions that improve daily life.
It is this clear difference that has made locals ditch David Serukenya for Mukasa Joseph. While David is criticised for being silent and absent, Mukasa is praised for being present and reliable. To many, Mukasa’s record of action and community support proves that he is a servant leader who understands their struggles.
As one voter put it, “We do not want an MP who disappears after elections. We want someone who walks with us, speaks for us, and brings real change. That is why we are choosing Mukasa Joseph.”
