Police in Bushenyi District are investigating a shocking incident of murder and attempted murder that occurred on the evening of 31st May 2026 in Bitooma Town Council. The violent attack has left one person dead and two others injured, sending fear and sadness through the local community.
According to preliminary police findings, an unidentified male suspect armed with a panga attacked three people at their home while they were preparing food around 8:00 pm. The sudden and brutal attack left no time for the victims to escape or defend themselves.During the incident, 64-year-old Bamucungura Edisa was killed at the scene. Two other victims survived the attack but sustained serious injuries. They were quickly rushed to Comboni Hospital for urgent medical attention, where they are currently receiving treatment.
Police officers responded promptly after being alerted and secured the crime scene. Standard procedures were followed as investigators collected evidence to help in the ongoing investigations. The body of the deceased was also taken to Comboni Hospital for postmortem examination.Authorities have confirmed that the suspect fled the scene immediately after the attack and is still at large.
